unlocked early
A 20-hour summer prep course that turns the year's hardest concepts into familiar ground — before the pressure of grades begins.
Learning key Algebra 2 concepts in advance - like how to visualize, graph and factor quadratic functions for example - gives students a strong foundation for a comfortable, confident and successful math experience during the regular school year.

OUR APPROACH
Math mastery built on
real understanding
Math mastery built on real understanding
Math mastery built on real understanding
Algebra 2 moves fast — and assumes that students remember everything from previous math classes. Our online summer program briefly rebuilds Algebra 1 foundations, and then focuses on breaking down core Algebra 2 concepts, so that they feel familiar and easy to understand before a single grade is at stake.
Using Universal Design for Learning methods, we help each student visualize and deeply understand what key Algebra 2 ideas really mean — such as how different forms of a quadratic function work, how the graph of a parabola "moves" on the coordinate plane, how to read and manipulate logarithms, how to apply the four basic operations to complex numbers, and so on. When students have the opportunity to unpack key Algebra 2 concepts in a safe and stress-free learning environment, understanding sticks, procedures stay fresh and the school year feels more manageable.

needs to succeed

Live instruction
22+ hours of synchronous online teaching with a highly qualified instructor, in small classes.

Small cohort
Classes are kept small by design, so every student gets real attention and the class remains fully interactive - rather than just a lecture.

Instructor videos
Short recordings of key teaching materials are available after each session — so students can revisit any concept on their own schedule.

Live instruction
22+ hours of synchronous online teaching with a highly qualified instructor, in a cohort of no more than 10 students.

Classes are kept small by design, so every student gets real attention and the class remains fully interactive - rather than just a lecture.

Student screencasts
Each student records key concepts in their own words during the course. These become a personal reference library — uniquely theirs — to revisit when things get hard during the school year.

Back-to-school refresher
2 hours of live review included the weekend before school starts — a calm, confidence-building bridge from summer to the classroom.

Printable course workbook
Printable materials supplement digital resources — and provide a helpful reference throughout the school year.

ALGEBRA 2 PREP
Curriculum
22+ hours of individualized instruction in a small class setting,
designed for deep math learning
The course is structured in three parts: a Foundations phase that reviews key Algebra 1 concepts, a Deeper Relationships phase that covers the topics where Algebra 2 students most often struggle when the pace picks up during the regular school year, and a Back-to-School Refresher session right before school starts to strengthen learning and recall.
Foundations
In our summer Algebra 2 Prep program, students first review key concepts from their previous Algebra 1 class — including functions, one- and two-step equations, linear equations, polynomials, and radicals — so that they can build their understanding of new Algebra 2 topics on a strong and solid foundation.
Deeper Relationships
From there, students move on to the heart of Algebra 2 — including what a quadratic function really is, how you can graph it as a parabola on the coordinate plane, and how changes in the quadratic function make the parabola "move" in different ways (i.e. transformations). Students will become very familiar with three different forms of a quadratic function (standard, vertex, and factored forms), and the important information that is easiest to "see" in each one.
Students will also become comfortable and confident using four different methods to solve quadratic functions (as well as what it means to "solve" them), including a derived — not just memorized — quadratic formula. Finally, students will also explore imaginary and complex numbers, exponential and logarithmic functions treated as inverses of each other, and a first look at rational functions.
Throughout, the emphasis is on genuine understanding for deeper recall. Students learn what the core concepts of Algebra 2 really mean, so that rules and procedures actually make sense, and are easier to perform.
Back-to-School Refresher
The course closes with the opportunity to attend one or more back-to-school refresher sessions timed for just before school starts, designed to sharpen recall and build confidence right as the year begins. In total, the course offers 22+ hours of focused instruction across live, interactive and highly engaging sessions.
